Routine Maintenance

Unlike many other flood control zones, almost all of the infrastructure in Zone 2A is located underground. A network of pipes carries runoff beneath streets and neighborhoods, directing stormwater safely through the flood control system during heavy rain.

Because these facilities are largely out of sight, regular inspection and maintenance are critical to keeping the system functioning properly. District maintenance crews regularly inspect these pipes and remove debris and sediment to keep the system functioning properly and reduce the risk of flooding.
