Learn About Projects in Your Neighborhood

Flood control and water conservation efforts vary across the Western Alameda County, shaped by differences in geography, drainage patterns, and community needs. To support effective planning and delivery of flood protection, Western Alameda County is divided into zones that generally follow major watershed boundaries.

Revenue collected in each zone can only be spent within that zone and only on District-owned property or other property that the District has a legal right to access. The District has no authority to maintain, repair, or remove infrastructure or vegetation beyond its designated properties. Learn more about how District projects are funded.

Learn how projects move from early planning to construction by reading our Project Steps page. For a broader view of the District work across all zones over time, read the District’s Annual Reports.

Projects in construction are listed on the Alameda County Public Works Agency website where you can find detailed information about recent activities.

Zones Served by the District

The District serves Zones 2, 2A, 3A, 4, 5, 6, 9, 12, and 13, which are included on this website. Zone 7, which includes Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin and nearby unincorporated areas (including Sunol) in eastern Alameda County, is served by the Zone 7 Water Agency.

Over time, other designated zones (1, 3, 8, 10, and 11) have been consolidated or discontinued as participating jurisdictions and planning boundaries have evolved.
